Present in the main winegrowing regions of the country, Aliança is strongly committed to quality, and to pursue that goal, has acquired farms in regions such as Alentejo, Dão, Douro, Bairrada and Beiras, exploring about 600 hectares (ha) of vineyards.
In 2007, Commander José Berardo acquired the majority share capital of Aliança, which became part of the Bacalhôa Group.
The social designation of Caves Aliança S.A. was changed to Aliança Vinhos de Portugal S.A. in March 2008, when the institutional image was changed.
Aliança wines, such as Quinta dos Quatro Ventos, Quinta da Garrida, Quinta da Terrugem and Quinta das Baceladas, have already received several national and international awards and the company was considered, in 2005, by Wine Spectator one of the 20 best companies of the sector worldwide, being the only one from the Iberian Peninsula included in this classification
