Wine Tourism

Created in November 2016, Associação Rota da Bairrada is a regional, non-profit association, which aims to boost, promote and enhance the viticultural activity of Bairrada, and related activities, as tourist and cultural products of the region.

The oldest active brotherhood in Portugal, the deed of its constitution was drawn up on June 11, 1979, with the statutory objective of defending, prestige, valuing and advertising Bairrada wines and Portuguese wines in general.

Turismo Centro de Portugal's mission is to enhance and develop the tourist potential of the respective regional tourism area, to promote, internally and in the wider internal market, regional tourist destinations, as well as to carry out an integrated management of destinations within the framework of regional tourism development.

The Regional Directorate for Agriculture and Fisheries of the Center is a service of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, charged with supporting the agricultural and fisheries sector, at regional and local level, with a view to promoting it and bringing it closer to farmers and their organizations, in an integrated perspective and in accordance with the national policy and objectives defined for those sectors.

With the accession of Portugal to the European Community, on January 1, 1986, a new perspective was introduced in the Portuguese economy. The JNV was adapted to the new functions resulting from the Common Organization of the Wine Market, being replaced by a new body called the Institute of Vine and Wine, created by Decree-Law no. 304/86, of 22 September and where the redefinition of functions and the readjustment of structures imposed by the single European market are embodied.
